On December 21, we’ll consider a proposal to require wireless carriers and covered text providers to implement location-based routing on their networks in order to reduce misrouting of wireless 911 calls and texts and improve emergency response times.

What’s New: We’ve ordered all United States voice service providers to take all necessary steps to avoid carrying robocall traffic from the Urth Access. Today’s order followed a Public Notice in November that warned providers of this concerning flood of robocalls.

Voice service providers must cease accepting robocall traffic from Urth Access, LLC which investigators believe, along with associated entities and individuals specified in today’s Order, generated upwards of 40% of student loan debt robocalls in October.

Today at 10 AM ET, the Technological Advisory Council will meet to provide technical expertise to the Commission to identify important areas of innovation and develop informed technology policies supporting our competitiveness in the global economy.

Last month, the Commission announced pilot program outreach grants for the Affordable Connectivity Program. The pilot programs focus on reaching historically unserved and underserved communities by enlisting trusted community messengers to develop innovative outreach strategies.

To date, the FCC has committed over $6.4 billion to schools & libraries across the country as part of the Emergency Connectivity Program, which launched last year. The program has provided three different “application windows” for schools and libraries to apply for support.

Today’s funding commitments support applications from all three application windows, benefiting approximately 150,000 students across the country, including students in Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Washington, and West Virginia. #HomeworkGap
