Someone I’ve know almost all my life took their life yesterday, she was loved, she was wanted and she was needed, this is not ok, none of this is ok, how we talk about suicide has to change it is not and never should be a normal way to die

In our society we believe in looking out for each other, especially those in greatest need. It's not right that 1 in 4 children in NI are living in families increasingly losing control in a cycle of poverty, struggling to make ends meet

The view from Brussels on proposed solutions cuts to heart of the problem with the idea of paying Ireland for a tech solution to the border: "If it was possible to solve [the Irish backstop] with money ... But it's not. It's a question of war and peace."

We are asking prison officers to do an incredibly difficult job, managing and helping people who’ve done nasty things but often have mental health etc problems. It should be a profession, like nursing, with proper training, education and remuneration.

Worrying if fraud protection is reliant on individual claimants having to 'be careful' who they give information to. Do people on low incomes have financial freedom to refuse to give identifiable data when that is the price to access the website services?

My ex text me 20 mins after he collected 3 of my children for contact that I "would never see them alive again". I took the text to the police while hysterical and they told me to come back on Sunday after he had missed the contact hand over time & then they would investigate..

Impressive but depressing insight into what Sir Angus Deaton describes as 'cumulative distress' where the consequences of inequality have such a huge impact on wellbeing and all its indicators. Underlying factors include decline in no. of good jobs & falling wages.

The insight from Sir Angus Deaton on inequality in the US has some contrasts with UK - wage depression in UK has been marked over last 10, not 50 years as in US. UK also has better safety net for those in need but not clear it can fully substitute for loss of jobs.
