Actually, Sleeping Giants is a real organization that seeks to blackmail advertisers into dropping sponsorship of shows they don't like or agree with. Basically, they're bullies in suits.

The difference is, when Lauer's behavior came to light, NBC folded pretty quickly and canned his ass. Fox kept Bill around through an advertising boycott until they finally relented.
