    I never did use that LOA. My boss was promoted away not long after and he has no idea that his willingness to give me a LOA was instrumental in hundreds of people having a blast every summer for nearly a decade now.

    By all accounts MAGStock was either a modest or massive success. If you asked our attendees it was a resounding success. Life long friendships were formed that weekend. Every year has been a great time but there was something magical about that first year.

    My boss at the time said he would approve the LOA if I ednded up wanting it. His decision to allow that gave me the confidence to push forward with the first MAGStock with that summer.

    I had just enough vacation to cover thursday though Sunday. This was fine if I were just attending. Not running the show. I wasn't comfortable pushing it so close with time off. I put in for a LOA at my job so I could take the additional time off with out endangering my job

    I was pretty low on vacation time. I only had a few days of vacation time left. Ideally I would like to have a few days before and after to ensure we had time to prepare and rest.

    I was planning to share this story at the tenth MAGStock this summer. A lot has happened in the last month and I likely won't be attending. Back in the spring of 2011 when we were deep into planning the first MAGStock. I had a pretty meh job.
