One severely misinterpreted verse of the Word of God is Titus 2:4 which says in relation to speaking the things that are proper for sound doctrine (Titus 2:1):
For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. (Galatians 5:1-6)

Titus 2:4-5 has been used to teach that women who are married with children cannot work outside the home or even in ministry. Those who do are in sin by virtue of working outside the home, or even serving in ministry in small ways.

This erroneous teaching has even be extended to married women who do not have children, not as a result of choice, but by circumstance, and even single women.

The teaching that a woman, whether married with children, married with no children or single cannot work in non-sinful jobs or careers is not supported by Scripture. Holy living does not come by following rules, but by being led by the Spirit.

Working in a non-sinful job or career is not prescribed by the Word of God as a sin or an "evident" work of the flesh (Galatians 5:19).

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)

Nowhere in the Word of God does it say that a woman working outside the home in a non-sinful job or career is a sin that leads to Hell, or that is a sin of the flesh. Those who think that need to read the Bible again more carefully and take off their ideological blinders.

Nor is a woman working outside the home, whether married or single, with children or with no children necessarily against the spirit of the Law.

The teaching that the Word of God prohibits a woman, whether married or single, with children or no children from working outside the home, be it in a secular profession or in ministry is unscriptural. It is a man-made rule that is based on the misinterpretation of Scripture.
