Electronic Engineering Friends. Drawing a 0603 ferrite bead. Easy enough to get the symbol (copy paste another part) but what about the footprint? I use rectangular silkscreen end-caps for resistors and curvy ones for caps. What about beads? Looking for images on PCB's... Help!

Starting to get smart with fancy silkscreens etc. picked a nice ‘n easy weekender project to dip my toes in the water.

OH Electronic friends. I am frustrated in ways that only y'all could understand. WHO TF decided on Diode package names? D0-214AA is SMB size, whilst D0-214AB is SMC (the biggest), finally 214AC is SMA (the smallest). More like DOH-21FKT!

For those following the adventures of the smd tape cutter and co. Here’s the remains of a prototype I put together. It self destructed sadly... too many PSI’s!

Spent downtime today learning how to make silkscreens prettier and more effective. Both and are to blame for this. Nice easy to find pointers for key/test signals in circuit will make trimming power rails and bias's much easier to do!

Need to up the marking power - that's not a biggie to perfect.

Challenged by and to see if I could mark and cut 8mm smd component tape with laser. With a 50W it cut like butter! The marking was done in a single pass at 20% power, the cut at 60%

Whenever I start to feel unproductive or lose motivation, I find documenting what I've learned to be quite therapeutic. What's even better is coming back to it 2 years later and saying "thanks past me... I can pick up where I left off!". What do you do get through the block?

Big thanks to all those that chipped in with advice. Definitely an experience! Now to do more on that negative rail!

Okay. Hooked up the probe that arrived at 7.45AM (thx Amazon!). Positive rail is 2mV of noise @ 450kHz (switching freq). Negative rail is quite a bit noisier (200mV!) at same frequency. Way beyond audio band though and given there’s no feedback from neg rail, it’s okay for Rev-A!

I’m rapidly moving into depression. How the hell am I supposed to debug power supply noise when my o’scope idles with 10kHz 100mV noise? I’m putting some serious thoughts into a 12V battery and a portable o’scope.... I can hear my desktop spkrs hum’n’glitching :(

I've been busy in the evenings hunting the noise in a new power supply design I have. I removed a powerline modem, that lowered stuff, but still had occasional noise. Then I found one of 's videos () - I'm off to take EVERYTHING off that power rail!

That horrible feeling when you realize the burst of noise in your newly designed power supply actually came from the power line modem you recently connected to your PC.

I'm testing a power supply design that I've made for noise. So far, I've tried it with my audio precision (excellent resolution, but low bandwidth) and with my O'Scope in FFT mode (okish resolution, wider bandwidth). What's the next tool I need? (must be affordable!)

Want to order a standardized set of 0603 Resistors? Here's a list of Yageo 1% Thin Film resistors, all standard E6 values. I uploaded the list to LCSC and got 1K of each, shipped for ~$60. Job done. Finished. Happy. Share with engineer friends. Cheers! :)

Twitterati- I need help sharpening my google-fu. I want to use a simple arduino to toggle a bunch of relays in a pattern. (Switching loads with relays to test a power supply). Any projects doing something similar already?

Anyone had an Lm337 flip from a -15V output to +15 (in a bipolar power supply) - is this classic latchup?

I now know what modification our TM-240A pnp needs! But I also need to give the machine a name.

It’s important to list accomplishments and review your “done” list. Otherwise, all you see is the mountain ahead and not path you’ve already covered.
