Ice-filled crater in the Martian polar region of Vastitas Borealis. Water ice may exist for longer periods on north facing slopes, which receive fewer hours of sunlight on average throughout the year.

📸Ritchey Crater (309.06°E, 28.13°S) has exposed bedrock, variety of impactites and post-impact materials. RGB images show what you would see but my filters (NIR-RED-PAN-BLU) help differentiate various materials. Can you 👀 the differences ?

A dramatic evening image of a 6-km diameter crater in the northern plains of Mars, where half the crater is in shadow. The path taken by crater's ejecta can be clearly seen in the form of grooves radiating away from the crater's centre.

📸 Icy scarps made visible, despite the low light in this late evening image, by their covering of bright white CO2 frost. Usually gone in spring, frost remains late on these scarps because of their pole-facing orientation.

Shown here is a double crater in Arcadia Planitia. This duo 2-kilometer crater formed by the simultaneous impact of two projectiles. The interaction of the two shockwaves created a spectacular butterfly pattern in the ejecta blanket.

This image taken by CaSSIS on the 19th of May 2021, shows several active dust devils in the northern hemisphere of Mars. Dust devils appear as small vortexes and slightly bluer in this false colour composite image. Can you spot them?

Layered deposits exposed on the floor of an impact crater picked out by dark sand trapped in the hollows left by wind erosion. In places the layers are offset, showing that the ground has been fractured in the past.

This is a segment of Cerberus Fossae trench system. The few hundred metres deep floor is filled with coarse-grained, likely basaltic in composition sand, which appears blue in the CaSSIS false-colour composite image. Notice the small impact craters in the nearby flatlands!

These three impact are located in the Lunae Planum region on . This region is covered by large deposits of lava, probably from the volcanoes of Tharsis Montes. The layers (or strata) of lava are clearly visible inside the largest crater. Image taken on 22 March 2021

4/4 This task becomes difficult when the duneform comprises of a combination of dune types. Here, the dune shapes imply divergent wind directions, the outer dunes appear to be pushed away from the crater while the inner dunes seem to be dragged to the center of the crater.

3/4 On the other hand, the windward slope is usually longer in length and is facing the wind. As dunes migrate following the wind direction, it is possible to understand whether they are flowing in or out of this crater by determining the lee and windward sides of the dunes.

2/4 For transverse, parabolic and cresentic dunes, the crest lines can help to determine the wind direction as the steeper slope, called the leeward side, has a short length from the crest line to the baseline and indicates a downwind direction.
