Two further notes: firstly, since some folk have been trying to "own" us, yes we are aware that the Hagia Sophia was not built as a mosque. However, its current form includes distinctive Ottoman minaret additions, and the resulting look isn't atypical of middle eastern mosques.

The development of mosque architecture owed a lot to early christian church architecture, with the adoption of domes - see e.g. the Dome of the Rock. So yes, possibly we should've used the Suleymaniye, but the HS both has been a mosque & maintains the basic look.

Second note: the mystery ruin picture isn't actually a mystery, for better of worse; if anyone's interested, it's the basilica of Damous el Karita in Carthage, Tunisia. You can read more & find pics about Carthage's antiquities here: https://exilian.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6132.msg139177#msg139177 … Thanks for reading!pic.twitter.com/lrqgkXSZ7c

My body is a temple. One of those abandoned Khmer Empire ruins in Cambodia where mad macaques shit all over the place and steal the visitors hats and cameras.
