melee is the same but no one sees it like that, leffen literally plays defensive waiting for a bad approach then literally 0-deaths you hbox’s entire gameplan is playing whiff punish and killing you for it it’s almost like fighting games.... are meant to be played slow

the reason why players like hbox in melee or zero in s4 were so dominant is because they extensively camped, theres no difference in ult or other fg’s

Most competitive games in general are like this. The risk of opening a defense is always greater than the risk of holding ground. "Wait for them to overextend, then push" is always the safest strategy and eventually there just isn't anyone smarter than your defense anymore.

If I recall correctly, Tekken 4 failed fundamentally because changes resulted in players favouring defensive play. I feel like it should be based on the character; having certain fighters be designed to be safer taking risks than others at the expense of something else.
