a lot of issues that NE stems from regarding recognition comes from not enough help overall. Everyone says they want to support our region but it’s hard when it’s left to a select number of people to actually organize things. PR, vod uploads, graphics, all takes effort
“why is PR late?” - because it’s 5 adults that have real lives outside of smash that are left doing the job no one wants to “why are there no graphics for [tournament top 8]?” - because that requires us to spend money out of our own pockets to commission, + that artist has-
-their own life and can’t always do it. “why are there no vods?” because running a tournament AND streaming the tournament at the same time is not easy, on top of having to keep up with splicing vods mid bracket to separate them amongst doing everything else.
“why doesn’t NE travel more?” - its pretty expensive, and that would require taking time off work and losing money.
a lot of it stems from lack of help. it’s pretty hard trying to keep up with everything when we’re just people that have lives and jobs outside of smash, everyone relies on 10 people to do everything for everyone without help.
even if you can’t help with any of that, the best thing to do to help is be patient. bugging everyone about it every second gets us nowhere and makes people want to do it even less
Sadly I think this is true for a lot of regions. Problem with New England is there's a lot of complaining about it, which could just be due to having a large scene. A lot of people also don't really know how they can contribute, myself included.
i understand a lot of people having the issue of not knowing how to help if you don’t understand doing pr or uploading vods, but the best thing other people can do is spread awareness about events, be patient, and support other tournament scenes. Those are the best ways to help
