going through the same problem right now LMAO, just comes down to improving overall. Once you become confident with your characters gameplan and neutral, it eventually becomes second nature, you just have to get to that point, which is the hard part

autopilot is condescending, though, it makes it sound like theres not much to it, but autopilot is good for situations that you shouldn’t be overthinking, and rely on your “natural” ability, ie, what you’ve been trying to master

i’ll use a recent tournament of mine for example. Recently, i beat someone who i’m HEAVILY negative on, and it took a LOT of effort and concentration to win, and it went g3, so it took a while. Right after, i played raffi, who i know i can beat, but i have to be playing well. 1/?

that ALSO took a lot of effort/concentration, and ALSO went g3, so now i’m out of energy and burnt out, but in WFS. I play someone who i know i can beat, but have to be playing well to do so, but i’m mentally exhausted from the last 2 sets, so i have to rely on my autopilot 2/?

It's really funny, I feel like I just start losing as soon as I fall into a flowchart, even since smash 4

same here, but you can use that to your advantage. If your flowchart is good, then playing like flowchart isn’t a BAD thing, but its not to be relied on. It comes with experience and practice

I keep telling myself I need to practice but I have no clue how to actually do it effectively

what I PERSONALLY used to do was practice flowcharts on bots, just to get comfortable with it, then try to incorporate it in friendlies, and keep at it. It won’t always work on the first try but slowly trying to incorporate it at the right times is key MM’s help, friendlies too

essentially, just playing vs people help. post bracket friendlies, smashfests, MMs, side brackets like Lanes at Shine, etc

Lanes. Lost r1 last hit to Kopec (ended up winning the whole thing), made it all the way through losers to LFs, and mashed my face into Little Mac's fists for 2 games. Started camping and won game 3, then lost my patience in game 4. Same deal.

some characters you kinda just can’t flowchart/autopilot, which is good and bad. Luigi, Mac, Bowser, etc all require extra thinking because they are fairly unique to the rest of the cast, and force you to play the entire game differently
