The spike is terrible. Sometimes you just happen to get the spike hitbox which never kills from onstage. The move pops people up but not high enough to go above platforms, but bowser himself lands on the platform. That makes it literally useless below platforms.

You shouldn't be, that's the point. When going to the ledge, it does its job fine but you can't antiair someone with it onstage without running the risk of randomly getting the spike hitbox
