Its a tough line between too early and too late to test stages. Wait too late, and no one will want change to the list because they're comfortable, and rankings will have started. It's better to test the "hmm this seems kinda sus" early in the game's life to get it out of the way

we have an entire month to test things for stages before rankings count. Trying to do it before its released publically is useless

i agree in principle long term, but some need a ruleset ready to go within days of launch i doubt there's a single TO who believes their stage list/ruleset is perfect - it's better to consider drafted lists a foundation to build from

honestly i truly dont see a problem with the first week being smash 4 stages, trade out lylat for hazardless wario ware or sumn. For the first week or two, its not a crazy big deal bc a lot of people wont know how to play period, let alone be super effected by stages

by the same token it would be equally harmless to spend some time experimenting with stagelists for a few weeks i had actually considered running the smash 4 stage list at launch for a few months, but it quickly became apparent that the average attendee wants to try new stages

yeah, thats what i’m saying but he part thats pissing me off is the people like ptas, bear, etc are making people choose between things ps hless or fod, or people banning fod bc it lags even though the game isnt released. It makes no sense
