I Googled her other portrait work and none are as offensive as these. The bulk of Amy Sherald’s work is quite good. I like her style.
Hate is hate, it’s in us all and I think everyone understands it. I gave Amy high compliments on her other portraits, which I sought out after finding these on Twitter. I felt I did her a disservice in posting these, but she did paint them. They are no reflection on the Obamas.
It’s disturbing, historical. Yes. A glorious use of artistic talent to convey the artist’s repulsion, grief and compassion. Thank you for this!
