I don't think that changes the fact that there are still billions of people just... consuming. We need major cultural and behavioural shifts.

Do we? If the above series of policies and market activity eventually results in 100% green energy adoption, then what is wrong with consumption? Consumption will no longer be warning up the atmosphere.

Interesting - why do you think they're on the horizon? I think the biggest obstacle remains the power of the fossil fuel industry, which will not stop trying to delay its inevitable collapse.
-
I think climate activism seems to have actually worked. The ideological battle has been won and/or people's hands have been forced. You can now see policymakers, central bankers, financiers, etc proposing specific significant actions to combat climate change.

The climate is still going to change even if we had all that system in place tomorrow suddenly. It might not be accelerating out of control, but it will continue to accelerate for a long long time. We made more and more ice melt and more ocean is exposed = more energy retained.
-
And more energy retained means warmer weather which will melt more ice. We have already started the process. Whatever happens when the ice melts is what we are stuck with. But it can be much worse and we aren't doing much except talk.pic.twitter.com/GqqGUGchFs

Bookmarking for future discussion when I have the right headspace to lay out a coherent point. However, the rudimentary point is that you're placing trust in the financial sector which has repeatedly shown its inability to adapt accordingly.
-
Carbon tax, large public investment in R&D, denser cities, public transport, electric cars, nuclear energy, etc. seems fine. I done quite get your point re financial sector.
