Tomorrow I have the option to pickup 400 live roaches immediately before (and thus bring with me) or immediately after my meeting with the Dean. Thoughts?

    There are only 6 kinds of tweet: 1. I feel drunk but I'm sober 2. I'm young and I'm underpaid 3. I'm tired but I'm working, yeah 4. I care but I'm restless 5. I'm here but I'm really gone 6. I'm wrong and I'm sorry, baby

To all saying "you should check the data a collaborator sends you", and since you seem to imply you'd be able to detect the issues, what about joining the collective effort of checking all the ?

    We asked for a retraction of Pruitt, J. N., DiRienzo, N., Kralj-Fišer, S., Johnson, J. C., & Sih, A. (2011). Individual-and condition-dependent effects on habitat choice and choosiness. Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology

Some thoughts: when you see something bad happen to someone else, a natural response is "how do I stop this from happening again, to me?" A close corollary is "oh, I know this couldn't have happened to me!" (1/)

Another hot take on : people are concernd about collaboration & suggesting we check each other's work closely. Sure, double-checking is good (ESPECIALLY for code, less so for data I suspect). But at some point we do all need to trust; that's a bedrock of science

In light of the weak and unsatisfactory response by in the recent Science-piece to allegations of fraud, I think it is necessary to take a strong stand against unacceptable and unethical behaviours in science

How about a positive thread? What's your favorite manuscript that independently replicates some aspect of a retracted study due to data? I'd love to highlight folks who have been overshadowed. Provide your own, if you have one, especially if you're a student or ECS!!

Animal Personality didn't begin with him and it certainly won't end with him. [5/5]

understand the field. Everyone involved in this incident aside, there are plenty of excellent scientists studying personality who are in no way associated with Jonathan and have never been associated with him. [4/5]

when they should be focused on their ongoing projects and growing labs. However, if there are folks who have the opinion that the field of animal personality was simply a byproduct of a cult of personality around Jonathan Pruitt, then its even more imperative people better [3/5]

What's become clear is that one person has likely abused his position and created a cohort of victims left with sorting out the mess. These victims would benefit from support, as most are ECS who are suddenly in the position of scrambling to verify half of their CVs [2/5]

Today I got a gloating email in the face of from someone who has been critical of the field of Animal Personality. They suggested this Is the end of the discipline. Here is an excerpt of my response: [1/5]

I’d also like to remind you that many of us are also struggling with the the personal side of this. The sense of loss and sadness is acute, which makes this process all that much harder. CV lines aside, a relationship of mine with someone I care about has irrevocably changed.

Please remember that as eager as you are to have answers, we are just as eager (and probably more so) to have this behind us. But, right now our priority is accounting for the validity of thousands of data points. It takes time, and we’re trying our best.

This has been a brutal situation for all of us including and others. But the response to the recent retractions has been overwhelming in all the right ways. To everyone who's reached out, sincerely, thank you.

Understandably, I've received questions in the wake of the retractions by and the statement made by , and others. I am aware of the problem and am working to make sure everything with my name on it is trustworthy. Thanks for bearing with me.

The process is challenging and painful. Thank you for giving anyone potentially impacted the time to sort it out through the necessary channels.
