A bunch of people pointed out that there was a time period in between the school closing and the business opening. I didn’t think that mattered and I still don’t. But context I guess as if the grounds of a mostly black school being a hipster playground isn’t just as bad?!
It only took Alabama ten years to get gentrification, damn. (this is like a whole ass “down at the heels industrial town trying to make a comeback” bingo card in one location.
That IS Alabama.
Unfortunately also in many places outside of AL.. the public school system is just underfunded and eventually older and/or underused schools shut down & get sold. the new owners try to make it sound good but heres a Philly example (hint: same hipster bs)https://www.buildingbok.com/history
How terrible does someone have to be to think turning a school into a "speakeasy, arcade, and brewery" is a good thing?
It’s the people that watch It’s a Wonderful Life and think that Pottersville looks way cooler than Bedford Falls.
Was another bigger better school opened to replace the one closed down?
Usually they just send them to schools that already exist, adding to overcapacity.
