Abortion bans are class warfare. ➡️ Metro DC DSA will be rallying on the steps of the Supreme Court beginning at MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. ⬅️ Banning abortions will harm millions of people, especially people of color and working class people. See you there

The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes. politico.com/news/2022/05/0

Today is the day in the new year that Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander women finally catch up to what their white non-Hispanic male counterparts earned last year. But when you look past the average, many face even wider wage gaps. #AANHPIEqualPay

Sectors where Black women are overrepresented— hospitality, ed/health, gov, and care— trail far behind others. An equitable recovery means fair pay and good jobs in these areas, increasing access to higher-paying sectors, and ensuring social safety nets. (2/2) #BeyondTheNumbers

Strong job growth this month obscures persistent inequalities that keep recovery (much less full equity) out of reach for many Black women. Their employment remains the lowest compared to pre-COVID (2.3% lower, at 232k fewer jobs) #BeyondTheNumbers (1/2)

We also need to be looking at #jobquality, not just quantity. As workers seek to renegotiate for better work (a benefit of a tight labor market), let's assess what helps. Unions make a big difference for women and people of color: iwpr.org/iwpr-publicati #BeyondTheNumbers

Discussions of #payequity should not exclude all of the women working part-time, often in the lowest paying jobs. Latinas are especially likely to be part-time workers and therefore left out of the mainstream conversation. #equalpayday2022 #wagegap

🧵 For decades, #equalpay discussions have focused on white-collar workers because the data used compared only full-time jobs. That ends now. The lowest paid women in our country often work multiple part-time jobs to support their families. #EqualPayDay

On average, AANHPI women earn only 75 cents for every dollar that white, non-Hispanic men make. However, the wage gap between ethnic subgroups remains vast for AANHPI women. More disaggregated data is needed for our 50+ ethnic subgroups to address our needs and issues. #EqualPay
