  4. Hold fire on impeachment. The time is not now. Some exploit the process for political gain, but they aren’t helping. Step 1: investigate. Step 2: evaluate. Step 3: debate. Then, if the facts warrant it and they likely will, step 4: impeach.

  5. Trump’s wall shutdown is a case study for populist governance. Leader makes ridiculous campaign promise to exploit voter anxiety, comes to power, faces mounting corruption probes, then tries desperately to implement the promise to keep base, causing broad government dysfunction.

We need comprehensive immigration reform and stronger border security, but anti-immigrant rhetoric is a tactic of the feeble-minded fear-mongers of the far-right everywhere. Trump’s silly wall nonsense is more of the same. It’s a waste of taxpayer dollars and it’s not who we are.

Other countries looking at Trump’s America at this moment must be hard pressed to understand policies, principles, or process in either our domestic or foreign policy. Sad to say at holiday season, but there it is. We desperately need real leaders.

  21. Election fraud financed by GOP candidate in North Carolina’s 9th district demands a new general election, which is what the law allows. Some state GOP leaders’ efforts to change the rules now, even though they knew of the fraud ahead of time, should be rejected.
