Great mentorship is often "chummy yet challenging". Shame that it's so rare. Hard to mass-produce. See parental reactions in School of Rock and Dead Poets Society... Real mentorship can seem scary or subversive

Any thoughts on what a feasible model of P.E. might look like?

Good, hard question. I think part of it should probably be a greater emphasis on students finding the kind of exercise that they can actually enjoy, and it's fine if that's only one thing. Making everyone play every sport for a few weeks at a time guarantees low engagement

i thought about this recently bc i had such an awful time in PE but now i go to the gym 5-6x a week. i feel like my PE classes really didn’t focus on each individual’s initial fitness level so it was always awful for me bc i used to be out of shape compared to the other students

also the actual teachers aren’t always good role models for fitness lol
