If Don Blankenship can run for US Senate after being responsible for 29 people dying at his Upper Big Branch coal mine, these people should be able to vote after serving their time in prison.

I remember learning about these laws as a child and being very confused by them. We were taught you serve prison time to repay your debt to society, once time served, the debt was payed. Yet, being socially debt free you still lost your constitutional rights.

I can’t believe a basic right of citizenship is denied if you served your time

What is bewildering is felons like Blakenship can literally run for an office which would empower him to make new laws but ordinary people who served their time can't vote?

The downside is, once Trump is released from prison, he can also vote, probably for himself as a write-in candidate.
