Many have seen this graphic showing the two major parties moving apart and towards extremes since 2004. The results are gridlock, voter frustration, the rise of anti-democratic leaders, and more foreign interference. Reversing this trend has become a national security imperative.pic.twitter.com/vvK5VCPUjo

Bothsides whutabout blah blah blah. Balderdash. The ideological center-line of the Democratic Party is still well to the right of where it was in 1948. On many issues, it's to the right of where Dwight Eisenhower was in the 50's.

2/ The party whose center-line has truly moved is that of the GOP. It's gone from where it was under Ike and Nixon to a place that used to be ostracized and marginalized by right-thinking Republicans as Bircherism.

Also please with the revisionism 2004 wasn't about two parties grid locking rather republicans decided to stop upholding their oath of office and duties to the people and just focused on divisive wedge issues and work hard at suppressing democrat votes

I don't think the Left has become more extreme. From my perspective, Left & Center have held steady while the Right have rapidly lost their damn minds. I don't know how this gets fixed, but it's not by meeting in "the middle".

Really? I can think of a bunch of examples where I think the left has become more "extreme". And I consider myself to be "left". Eg Policing thought and expression; the overreaction to a Chinese prom dress, 'Antifa', deplatforming etc

Can be reversed only now by collapsing the GOP and replace/rebuild.

The U.S. has never been left. It's been far right and center right since its inception. The haves possess the means to water down discourse and pit citizen against citizen in an effort to maintain control. Actually adopting a leftist America is a national security imperative.

By far the best way to fix this is to get rid of gerrymandering so that politicians would have to appeal to a broader spectrum of voters than they do now.
