Evan, assuming there was active participation by Trump or ppl close to him in the 'dangle,' how is such coordination happening, at a practical level (despite the glare of publicity on Trump-Russia relations) ? Could Pompeo be part of the answer ? Is he sound, in your view ?
I don’t think Trump participated in the dangle. I think he saw news of it and identified an opportunity to push the narrative Moscow was likely trying to set up, as he’s done before. I respect Pompeo. He’s very smart. But I worry about his political inclinations in this role.
