What is considered “far left” in the US is just normal in most parts of the developed world; universal health care, criminal justice reform, universal pre-K, affordable college, and innovation to fight climate change. If we want to move “way left” it’s because it’s long overdue.

As the two major parties pull to the extreme they become increasingly unable to govern and do not serve or represent the interests of the American people. We need more independent minded leaders who can bring differing ideas to the table and build on common ground.

How specifically has the left become extreme? Wanting universal health care, upgrading our infrastructure and protecting DACA and social services isn't extreme.

The Democratic party has been moving right for a long time. Moving back to the left is not a bad thing. Moving further to the left includes progress in civil rights, women's rights, healthcare for all, education and more. The GOP moving further right means Nazis, KKK and...ok

The Democratic Party stopped supporting the working person, and this is a correction to where they should be - making our nation more equitable for those who start at the bottom of the ladder, rather than to solidify inequality.

That's isn't accurate, Evan. CA is a mainstream Dem state. Feinstein/Harris/Newsom/Schiff/Swalwell represent the Dem party. That's where we are. The country needs CA Dems to lead it until the GOP becomes sane and loyal to the Republic.
