President Trump has a purpose when he asks law enforcement officials who they voted for, if they're "on his team," or to pledge their loyalty to him: to subtly compromise their integrity and commitment to the rule of law in his favor.

Trump, like authoritarians now and throughout history, incorrectly believe they are the author of truth itself. Trump, by firing good people who attempted to speak truth to power, is providing history more evidence that he is an authoritarian and unable to hear objective truth.
