NB Three out of the top five GOP/Trump fake news awards were about personal tweets or op-ed pieces, not about actual news articles. Trump doesn’t even know what news is.
One can object to unfair media bias while still defending the indispensable role of the free press in encouraging accountable government.

You mean like constantly running "Trump voters like Trump" pieces (which they never did for anyone on the left)? And the media trumpeting Clinton emails while dismissing Trump/Russia? And media outlets that held back the Stormy Daniels story? That is indeed unfortunate bias.

A lot of the media bias would be mitigated if laws were passed to stop people from owning more than one media outlet at a time. No more chain media companies.

It's not something that can be eliminated as people will always have a bias in what they report, but that isn't a big issue when you don't have the majority of them owned by one or two people.

Maybe "one" can do this, but such realism and nuance is apparently beyond our president, who operates on emotional appeal only. Emotion is cheap and easy, and well/suited to the Golfer-in-Chief, who is allergic to complex truths and much prefers short falsehoods.

Bias is not a problem as long as you have free media where you can also counterbalance it. Calling for unbiased media is the silly notion that all media should cover the same things in the same way. That is a scary idea in and of itself.
