I'm going to disagree on that free & fair election part. It's not really free and fair when you have GOP gerrymandering and voter suppression
I agree that gerrymandering and voter suppression is a problem.
Sadly, the GOP made it near impossible for anyone to win except a republican in many districts. I am not as optimistic as you. Trump's got something on people like Graham, Grassley, Nunez, Jordan so we're screwed. They choose party over country.
