The president’s sixteen denials of collusion with Moscow in this New York Times interview sound a lot like his prior, false denials of campaign contact with Russians.https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/12/28/us/politics/trump-interview-excerpts.html?referer=https://www.google.com/ …

Trump suggests that his base’s disbelief of collusion accusations is proof that they’re false. This is the populist’s core ploy: create an environment in which there are no objective facts, only opposing narratives in the partisan pursuit of power.pic.twitter.com/MDggrxdahJ

Trump continues to play to his base above all because a) it protects him from impeachment in the House and b) allows him to continue his narrative that the Russia investigation is nothing more than a political “witch hunt,” which helps protect him from removal by the Senate.

Further, Trump suggests that if Mueller treats him “fairly,” the investigation will show that there was no collusion, possibly setting a pretext for removing Mueller if his probe reveals additional evidence to the contrary. Trump will say Mueller is no longer being “fair.”pic.twitter.com/4zGkvLK5bd

Trump appears to believe that it’s the Attorney General’s responsibility to protect the president from being held accountable under the law, likely setting another pretext for removing sessions if Mueller’s investigation gets too close to Trump and his family.pic.twitter.com/Dy4oUdRr6P

The President is attempting to break down the rule of law as a widely accepted American norm, even going a step further to normalize the dangerous counter-norm that the president and the Executive Branch are above the law.

Finally, Trump suggests that the Justice Department has no independence and, by extension, that he is above the law. I believe these statements foretell the kinds of actions Trump may be willing to take if Mueller’s investigation gets close enough to the Oval Office.pic.twitter.com/yvHGmVBx1F

It's infuriating that his base is such a small percentage of the US. The rest of us are ignored.

So it’s time we crush the house. We must be in their faces EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF EVERY SINGLE DAY! They are derelict in their duties and on the cusp of treasonous. How can this be allowed to happen?
