Change might less frightening to some in this country if they knew they had unemployment insurance, healthcare, and retraining opportunities so they could continue to care for their families. We can't have that because we seem to need to give all our money to the rich.

Would that our countrymen would have work ethic and attitude of ave. Swede. Coal workers offered solar retraining. Declined. Holding out for #BlackLung jobs.

We need to develop a better sense of all being in this together if we're going to weather this like Sweden has.

I've used up my NYT views but here I'd say we have to start with better (and more consistent) public schools because they form the foundation for life long learning. We shouldn't have sub-standard textbooks with errors in science and history, for example.

Oh Evan that will take leadership & people with 1/2 a brain. Have you seen our government lately? It's a collection of liars & sexual predators.

For such a plan to work in the United States, the GOP would have to renounce its creed that government, being pure evil, should have no active role in shaping the economy (that is, beyond further enriching the most wealthy among us through tax cuts and deregulation).
