I remember when House Republicans were essentially all advocates for accountable government and strong supporters of U.S. law enforcement. Now, many of them attack the latter in order to undermine the former.
It is the Article I, Constitutional responsibility of members of Congress to ensure Executive Branch accountability. Members who fail to fulfill this duty - or worse, actually work against it - do not serve the people’s interest and should be replaced.
So what do you do when the majority body not only doesn't see a problem in this, but is actively engaged in it?
We must hold them accountable in elections.
Do We The People have any legal remedy against this betrayal of congressional oath of office?
Elections are our best opportunity to hold them accountable. I know of no other recourse, but elections should be enough if we fulfill our own responsibility by voting.

I’m an independent. But I do think saving the party - if it can be saved - is a goal we should all share. The current direction of the party is damaging for it and the nation.
