Trump’s verbal attacks on media companies coupled with use of executive power to threaten their operation or sale is likely intended to decrease their valuations and incite shareholder pressure to cover Trump more favorably. This is a serious challenge to our free press.

gosh, during the primary all it took for Trump to get CNN to do what he wanted was to pick up the phone and call his bff Jeff Zucker, who greenlit "The Apprentice" when head of Entertainment at NBC, which then scored him the top job at NBC.

Then Zucker proceeded to destroy NBC entertainment from the moment he came in. He left w/ a poor excuse for a network that has miraculously recovered thanks to new leadership.

Oddly, in the old days of TV news (Huntley-Brinkley and Cronkite days) TV news wasn't profit oriented. If that were still true, they not only wouldn't care what 45 said, they would honor truth more than ratings.

Exactly. They were a network’s loss leader. When news became usurped under the entertainment banner & evaluated for ratings & ad sales (profits) just like Baywatch, everything changed.
