One can only deduce by Senate Republicans’ decision tonight to join Trump’s cover-up that they’re willing to enable his corruption if it helps them maintain power. They’ve abandoned the public interest, weakened our system of checks and balances, and should be held accountable.

You can draw a direct line from Citizens United to this travesty of justice. The GOP will pay for this dearly in November. Nothing they say now will erase this from the pages of history. Shame!

I was a Republican until just last year. I thought - maybe this can be turned around, maybe the Republican Party can … well, it can't. It can't. And won't. And I can't be part of it. I make this pledge - no votes for any Republican so long as Trump is President.

Honestly, I did not in 2016 foresee the Republicans’ wholesale repudiation of the rule of law, the separation of powers, & American democracy itself. The framers were visionaries, but even they could not imagine this level disloyalty, corruption & cravenness.
