A myriad of bad actors threaten the U.S. every single day. What’s different here? They were looking for an excuse to do what they’ve been wanting to do for decades.
A note on government justification of war-making, violations of civil liberties, etc. based on “security threats”: My experience is that threats are almost always far greater than the public knows AND that dishonorable leaders often misrepresent threats for political advantage.
