I wonder if it is partly to discourage Democrats from sending the articles to the Senate. McConnell can't be excited about each Republican senator's name historically and permanently associated with granting the President absolute immunity from Congressional oversight.

McConnell and Graham appear to be terrified to receive the Articles of Impeachment. Their statements that they refuse to be impartial jurors sounds like an attempt to totally avoid the issue by convincing the House not to take up the Articles. It seems like they're panicking.

He also said that they won't have witnesses because the Senate sits as judge and jury and then said he's not an impartial juror. Those statements are at odds but that's the post truth world we live in

A biased juror would be removed from any other trial

He should resign. He has abused his position and needs to go
-
He will never resign. He's too addicted to the power & money. If we can't vote him out here in KY, the other way to deal w/ him will be by flipping the senate so he looses Majority Leader.

View Mitch’s position as the last stand…because that is what it is. When Mitch goes down, the GOP will disintegrate.
-
Exactly. McConnell is the devil's linchpin.

Republicans have learned that there is no political penalty for lying and no political benefit to speaking truth. People respond to incentives.
