Evan McMullin Retweeted Pew Research Center

A whopping 43% of Republicans now believe a president free of checks and balances could address the country's problems more effectively, a number that has grown from just 14% during Trump's presidency. More evidence of his reshaping of the party in favor of authoritarianism.https://twitter.com/pewresearch/status/1201623583556018177 …

The share of Republicans who say presidents could operate more effectively if they did not have to worry so much about Congress and the courts increased 16 percentage points over the past year, from 27% in March 2018 to 43% this past July. https://pewrsr.ch/2ZAK9vo  pic.twitter.com/9CxD7xczG1

That's 43% of *what's left* of the R party, which isn't saying much. The difference is many of the sane ppl have left the party.

I believe many have left the GOP, but others have replaced them. According to Gallup, 29% of eligible voters considered themselves Republicans when Trump was elected. Now that number is 30%. Chasing some voters out and inviting others in is how the reshaping of the party happens.

"Balance of Powers" is such a basic American ideal that it's *the one thing* that you're supposed to remember from your high school American Gov't course. THE ONE THING!

The single biggest problem in the US is our rapid decline in our education system. No one studies history, civics, humanities, economics...we’re toast.

Republicans are not a principled party anymore. Their leaders tell them day in and day out that the end justifies the means and their supporters believe them. Republicans have harped on Dems for their identity politics, but this is worse, way worse.

When exactly were Republicans principled? Maybe when they stopped Nixon? It’s been downhill ever since.

And demonstrates exactly why a functioning system of proper checks and balances and rule of law is vital in a liberal democracy. The GOP has been hollowing itself out for decades. Trump is merely the absolute end result. GOP is dead.

Agree! As so as he was elected I said that he would be the end of the Republican Party. I think they know that too, which is why they are willing to sacrifice the constitution for one man.
