Erickson is the sort of neo-Calvinist who believes everything is pre-ordained. It is a theology developed entirely by Americans to justify the cruel indifference to suffering of others that America’s hyper-individualistic ethos and uniquely cutthroat brand of capitalism require.
It also is completely antithetical to the nature of Christ. Jews were expecting a “king” in the sense Erikson describes-an Old Testament, temporal ruler. Jesus was anything but. The GOP relies on OT much more than the Gospels and fullness of Christ I am noticing.
Not to nitpick because Erikson is human garbage, but Isaiah 45:7 wants a word. "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
Coming from a Presbyterian background, I've always felt the slippery slope of Calvinism is deciding you are one of the elect, and therefore whatever you do must be Godly. See Prosperity Gospel for a recent offshoot.
They live in darkness, and there is no truth in them. They are far from God. God has not chosen Trump. Sinful man chose Trump.
Like I tell my son: actions -> consequences. Our country needs to make better choices and quit being deceived.
