Congressional Republicans have defended Trump’s corruption for so long that it has become them.

True. And today Fiona Hill laid out the choice between American Ideals and "Art of the Deal," in a way that just about anyone can understand. Trump, Sondland and Putin are the faces of Art of the Deal; Hill is the face of American Ideals. I wonder what Republicans will do.

Gosh, I wonder! Especially after Trump's lunch with a few mildly critical Senate GOP *jurors* today.

Senate republicans will alter the narrative and do the same when they control the impeachment reigns

They only know one thing: that if Americans knew the extent of their corruption that the GOP would become a minority party for a generation. They will burn down our democracy to defend their power. #TrumpCrimeFamily

I always wondered how Nazi Germany came to be. The insidious slide into authoritarian rule is witnessed right in our own back yard in real time. The public gets numb. Congressmen sell their souls for power , look the other way until they are the corrupt . We must fight

I’ve had this same conversation with myself. Surely not everyone in 1930s Germany was onboard with Hitler. There must have been a moment when elected officials chose between speaking up and staying silent. And chose silence. Is that us now?

Hatred of liberals - the idea that liberals and Democrats are literally evil - is the heart of our national crisis. Democracy is impossible if one group regards the other as a greater enemy and threat than even our worst foreign adversaries.

Sorry, Evan, but for many of them it's who they've always been. Trump just gave them an opportunity to display their corruption more fluidly and openly.
