The "whys" don't matter. We have evidence enough that Trump puts Russian interests ahead of America's. Any member of Congress who cannot clearly see this is the case, or doesn't care enough to put their job on the line to remove him, isn't fit for office.

I think it's pretty clear: The Russian mob owns him & Putin is in w/ the Russian mob. He was owned by the Italian mob before they were busted up & the Russians moved in. He's a front for their $ laundering & has been for decades.

Well said. The question also remains why so many Republicans in Congress are fine with it. Are they all compromised and/or being blackmailed?

I would bet that many of them have made illegal financial gains due to being involved with Russia. And Trump knows it all. That is really the only explanation for their utter devotion to him and their willingness to be made fools with the lies they tell
