I'm afraid we're at the point that if you ask members of Trump's base, "Is it okay for the President to break the law in order to keep Democrats from taking over?", we all know what the answer would be. Can someone put that in a legit poll?
The argument that the president’s pursuit of foreign election interference isn’t impeachable puzzles me. If his repeated attempts to foil the people’s power to choose their own leaders, a direct threat to our freedom, doesn’t necessitate an impeachment inquiry, what does?

Let's be clear: lying under oath. I thought he was very cowardly to do that, and supported impeachment for it, since it undermines the rule of law. Trump should have been impeached 20 times over by now, in comparison. The same for Jeff Sessions, William Barr and a host of others.

You're assuming that there's any underlying logic to the argument. There isn't. His defenders started from the conclusion that they can't allow him to be impeached and worked backward to their flimsy and obviously faulty defenses.
