We need to talk about & punish white supremacists the way we talk about & punish extremists. They have a violent ideology. They radicalize people. They use propaganda & brainwash people into killing & terrorizing innocent civilians. They are terrorists. #WhiteSupremacistTerrorism
Instead of saying “white nationalists,” which is the euphemistic, more legitimizing descriptor racists prefer, we should say “white supremacists” because it describes their evil ideology more accurately. It’s especially important that the media start getting this right.

While white supremacy is the root of it, I think the “nationalist” part is important enough to highlight. A lot of people have white supremacist views, but white nationalism is explicitly about maintaining and reinforcing an explicitly white-run political structure.

This isn’t about just some bigot mouthing off about dark-skinned people to his buddies. White nationalism has infiltrated the very highest levels of our government and influences national policy. That’s their goal. It’s a political one, and it should be pointed out as such.

Then it’s also important for the media AND elected officials AND everyone get it right when talking about trump, yes? I am more than happy for trump to — rightly — be called a white supremacist as that IS what he is.
