White supremacist terrorists like the El Paso killer are certainly inspired by the rhetoric of Trump and other elected Republicans because they use the same rhetoric to justify their attacks. They bear responsibility for these tragedies, but if we don’t vote them out so do we.

Phrases in the El Paso killer’s manifesto: “the Hispanic invasion” Democrats “intend to use open borders, free healthcare for illegals, citizenship...to enact a political coup” “The media is infamous for fake news” “Send them back” All common Trumpist Republican refrains.

And the problem isn’t just Trump and other elected Republicans and right-wing media figures who promote these racist and conspiratorial ideas, it’s also the many others who remain silent and refuse, either in cowardice or in hopes of benefiting politically, to fight against them.

It pains me greatly that the party of Lincoln which emerged as a rejection of these evil philosophies is now a host and vehicle for such hate and violence. It has no business leading America until its leaders have fully recommitted themselves to equality, liberty and truth.

How about adding "and we should be voting for anyone OTHER than Republicans across the board until the Republican Party cleans house"? They won't change until they lose (or risk losing) their personal power/authority.

Come on, Evan. It's not the party of Lincoln, as much as Republicans like to claim. Just the label. The people of the party and their philosophy of government were Democrats until the 1960s, when civil rights legislation and Nixon's southern strategy caused them to swap sides.

Stop say ‘party of Lincoln.’ Lincoln would be appalled by the party of trump.

Let's remember that before it devolved into the party of Trump, the GOP was the party of Reagan who ignored AIDS, enabled Apartheid, illegally sold weapons to the Contras, used astrologers to schedule state sponsored travel AND made racist remarks about Africans.
