Today my 8yo niece was explaining to my small for his size son that it's best to be tiny. "You can hide better" for drills. Her words shattered my heart.

Gun safety legislation and the 2nd Amendment are not mutually exclusive.

Amen! The Second Amendment protects your right to be armed for self-defense. The weapons used in mass shootings are not meant for defense. They can, and should, be regulated.

What's hard in this discussion is that those armed murderers generally aren't armed murderers beforehand. So they wouldn't be flagged by any common sense legislation in the first place. It's only after they've committed the act of terrorism that there's a problem.

I don't know if there's a good solution, honestly. I'm personally against all types of assault-style semi-auto rifles like the AR-15. It's very possible that if we ban those types of guns, mass shooters will just change weapons, but I still think that's the way to go.

I too am a gun owner and strong supporter of the second amendment, but I want the NRA investigated, and I want laws written to stop lobbies like NRA from blocking common-sense gun legislation like universal background checks on purchases.

Legally purchasing my first handgun on my 21st birthday was too easy. I went to the next table and bought 200 rounds of ammo. It bothered me. Within days I was no longer an NRA member.
