I actually agree capitalism is the better system. But in the cannibalistic form embraced under Reagan and brought to evil perfection by Trump and McConnell, it’s just another means for the rich and strong to brutalize the poor and weak. We need to fix it before it kills us.

The economy is a feedback system. There’s no such thing as a feedback system that doesn’t require regulation. Uninhibited chemical reaction = explosion. Uninhibited neural activity = epileptic seizure. Regulation is part of how *any* healthy feedback system stays healthy.

the far left and far right are no where near destructive. the socialism the "far" left is talking about looks a lot like policy in Canada and is about trying to make cost of living better for more people. the super conservative people are going out of their way to demonize that

The Democrats have never been socialists. Even Bernie is not a socialist, despite his self-label.

We need a survey to hand out to public figures to assess their actual beliefs, and then score them in a meaningful way, because we clearly can't have coherent discussion when everyone's inventing their own definitions of "socialist" and "progressive," as is currently the case.

We'll see how long this lasts. My guess: not very. It will be gone by 2020. We live in populist times; centrists must band together and take back control of the narratives. But they are few and far between in our partisanship.

It would be really helpful if people had a clear understanding of socialism. Just because the right doesn’t want unions or healthcare for all, does not make these ideas or their proponents, socialist. Having been born and raised in a socialist country, i can tell you - huge diff.
