Previously responsible Republicans in competitive districts increasingly appear to have decided that their best reelection prospects now lie in pandering to Trumpism and turning out the base, rather than winning cross-partisan support, which they and Trump have put out of reach.
Sadly, they've begun to show themselves to be no more committed to the country's interests than their colleagues in deep red districts, who realized three years ago that their reelections were dependent upon their loyalty to Trump, which they gave.
Those more interested in self-preservation above all will look for moments in which they can satisfy the increasingly radical requirements of Trumpism and still look at themselves in the mirror. They - in particular - will do additional damage to the republic in the process.
The more honorable Republicans up for reelection in 2020 - if any are left - will proudly maintain their principles, keep their oath of office, and uphold our values even if it means electoral defeat. This is what the country requires and there should be no greater interest.
Agree Evan. That’s why we @AlliancePTY hold the position that getting rid of Trump will not fix the GOP. It is now fully infected with Trumpism and beyond redemption. Reagan’s GOP isn’t coming back.

Then they deserve the backlash that is waiting for them. Americans will eventually see through the party over country garbage and will look to people for change. This country needs a good scrubbing in all of our representatives. We need to work together and these cronies can’t.

How? Republicans have stood up to Russia. "Race baiting" with words like "monkeying up" is not race baiting. If he is such a white supremacist sympathizer, then where are those pardons? It is unfortunate that he is the president. Rank-choice voting would be nice.
When I told people here in Utah I voted third party I got the you wasted your vote speech. They were democrats so I pointed out Utah hasn't voted for a democrat since LBJ so maybe they wasted their vote.
