Today, Trump lied, spurned facts, advocated for unjust Chinese-style executions, and abused emergency authorities to bypass checks on his power. He’s an authoritarian who has mostly been checked by Congress and the Judiciary, but this situation is the biggest test of both so far.

If he had truly been checked by Congress, he’d already be gone. Instead, he’s still attacking our democracy daily. How can you possibly say that?
Yes Congress has fallen short of its oversight duties due to Republican partisanship, but Congress has still been a check, thus Trump’s national emergency today. You wanna see an unchecked president? Watch Trump abuse emergency powers if Congress is now silent and SCOTUS subdued.
