It’s not “our leaders” who fear these changes. It’s just the GOP. Let’s be honest here.

Totally agree and thinking the same. Why is there always this need to spread the blame. Dems wrote the bill recommending the holiday so it s/b obvious. But for those not engaged it can easily be misinterpreted. Shame on

Why not move veterans day to the election day. What better way to celebrate our veterans than voting! They are only a few days apart as it is.

There are no national elections, only state elections. In Texas, we have 10 days of early voting, and you can do anywhere in town, not just your own precinct, so you can vote at lunch or on Sunday. Voting is incredibly easy without a holiday. Just a silly idea.

And there are plenty of people who have to work holidays ..,.

But not everyone gets off for holidays. Police, firefighters, nurses, doctors, all work on holidays. Stores, gas stations, restaurants, farms all open. Mail in ballots, two days of voting, weekend voting are all better viable options.

Or all of the above, both yours and Evan’s.

All elections in France are held on Sunday... Why can't we do that ? Also we need two turns so there's only 2 candidates on the last turn, which guarantees 50+% of the votes for the winner and no more independent vote syphon.

Another option is ranked choice voting
