I still don't get what McConnell gains in all of this. I think he's just lost it.

Hard to say but he is clearly derelict in carrying out his constitutional duties. He is unprincipled. My guess is he wants to hold on to members of Trump's extreme hard line base located in his state so he can be reelected. He has shown for years that is his main priority.

Keep doing it,
@Evan_McMullin. Point out the betrayal, point out the corruption and the harm these faux conservatives are doing at the behest of the most corrupt president in the history of the United States.#Truth - End of conversation

The shutdown is for a wall that would be illegal to build due to our 1970 treaty with Mexico which disallows building on the flood plain due to the high risk of flooding, deaths and property damage from fences or walls which in that region would act like dams in heavy rainfall.

There has been no environmental impact study. Concerns have wrongly been ignored and must be dealt with. The President cannot go forward with a fence or wall that could kill people if completed. Likely the building that has taken place is close to the amount completed previously.

November 2018: The GOP controls the White House, Senate and Congress. They’ve had two years to fund the wall GOP: “We don’t need a wall.” Literally one week later: The Democrats take the senate. GOP: “We need a wall right now! It’s a crisis! Declare a national emergency!”
