Right-wing populists demonize minorities. Left-wing populists demonize the wealthy. Neither offer real solutions for the American people.

Sounds good. Let us know when the wealthy people agree to stop making huge political donations out of respect for our right to have an equal voice in government

Don’t “both sides” this. Discussing tax policy isn’t demonizing anyone. The right is actively looking to discriminate based on skin color

One can believe in higher marginal taxes without that counting as “demonizing the wealthy.”

Arguing that we should raise taxes on the wealthy is not the same as trying to stop all non-white people from immigrating to the US. It's also time we all stop pretending the two parties are equally bad in terms of how the treat each other.

Evan – I respect and appreciate the sentiment, but clearly one party has been extremely exclusionary and repeatedly xenophobic. And the GOP screed that they are more patriotic and more law and order is now dead. Slippery slope for becoming a “both sides do it“ argument…

The wealthy in this country have sponsored a multi generational war on the middle class that have left it weak and feeble. The rich have tirelessly attempted to strip Americans of their rights and pursuit of happiness in return for money in power. This is a talk long overdue.

Nobody demonizes the wealthy. People demonize bad behavior with the wealth. Big difference.

Wealthy people in the US let 40,000 poor Americans die every year by denying them the healthcare they need to stay alive. I think wealthy people have to make the first move here.

Agreed. Then let’s stop pretending that applying higher marginal tax rates on the wealthiest people is “demonizing”. For most of the 20th Century, this was an accepted social responsibility of rich Americans - it was a moderate policy accepted by both Democats and Republicans.
