1. Don’t just vote yourself, though you absolutely must do that. Also organize your friends to do the same. Make a list. Encourage them. Help them get to the polling station or remind them to vote by mail. Ask for their commitment. Then, tell them that you’re going to follow-up.

2. Invite a politically diverse group of well-intentioned people to your place or somewhere else where everyone can share their hopes and concerns for the country. Do more listening than talking. Sincerely try to understand rather than convince, even if you disagree. Bring food!

Especially the "bring food" part.... On a silly note, it would be great to have suggested recipes... On a serious note the act of "breaking bread" together has been seen as a sign of peace in many cultures throughout history. (2 Kings 6:22-23 is just one example)

Listening is so important. If we listened more than we are defensive, we would realize we all want the same thing. Everyone wants to be able to afford their health care, most people want secure boarders and compassion for immigrants etc. We are more alike than we are different.
