People often ask me what they can do to help protect and improve our democracy. Here are two things of critical importance that anyone can do:

1. Don’t just vote yourself, though you absolutely must do that. Also organize your friends to do the same. Make a list. Encourage them. Help them get to the polling station or remind them to vote by mail. Ask for their commitment. Then, tell them that you’re going to follow-up.

2. Invite a politically diverse group of well-intentioned people to your place or somewhere else where everyone can share their hopes and concerns for the country. Do more listening than talking. Sincerely try to understand rather than convince, even if you disagree. Bring food!

My choices in Georgia are Stacy Abrams and Brian Kemp. Having a choice like that is what makes me want to stay home rather than participate in such a lose/lose decision. What do you say to convince me otherwise?
